Finally some results....

OK, I blame the PC for the previous nonsense posts.....

After few weeks of inactivity (I have been working seriously...), it is with great pleasure I can report Tyrants have won their last three games, making 4 wins out of 4 games, well done Team with only a single set dropped.

To check the current standing (OK I wont tell you we are top...) or to perv at a hairy man, go to http://sva.leaguerepublic.com/Index.do?league=661524

In more details,

08-11-2009 Tide End Tyrants 3-0 Tide End Tigers. The derby felt short of a fight... It is not a place for triumphalism but I wish i remembered the score, maybe Gordon could help. Looking forward to the return game (yet to be set up, they are probably scared)....

14-11-2009 Guilford Cyclone 1-3 Tide End Tyrants. Picture of the winning team below. As the match report goes, I wasnt there and got no idea what the score was...

29-11-2009 Tide End Tyrants 3-0 Guilford Cyclone. Picture and videos to come in the next few days. Against a young and energic team, Tyrants got into the game quickly and were very organised winning the first set 25-9. The positioning session of the Wednesday paid off (as I am being told...). As for the second set, Cyclone lead by 4 points until Saddam with few serves managEd to reduce the lead. Brian and Reza finished the set 25-22. The third set saw Tyrants at their full potential (well almost) winning 25-14. Well done guys.

7-Brian, 5-Reza, 12-Ben, 6-Jery, 1-Rita, 4-Aaron (C)

The next game will bi on the 10th of January away to Egham Flames, so lets start the 2010 year with another straight win...

More videos

Having a bit more luck uploading to YouTube now. Rather than individual links, here's a YouTube search link that should find them all.

PS

Still no match report from the Tyrants v Tigers match a while ago - Tigers have blotted it from their collective memory, but perhaps Francois has some triumphalist recollections to share?

Ladies friendly at Cranleigh School

Well, there were some good rallies and exciting moments, but Cranleigh took the match... I have plenty of video for post-match analysis, but right now having trouble getting the larger clips to upload to YouTube.

This link should find them...

SLVL Richmond - Tide End v PVC Power

2nd November.  A good match against Putney Volleyball Club, with a 2-1 victory to us.  The format of this league is three teams, each playing two matches and reffing one; on this occasion, one team failed to show, which meant we only got to play one match, and had to self-ref it.  To pass the time, we continued with a few more sets against PVC.

Tigers away to Dorking Dragons

Despite an ignominious start in the first set, which we lost 25-0, we recovered to beat the Dragons 3-2.  Special mention to Dijana for serving us out in the final set with nine consecutive serves!  It was an enjoyable game with several long rallies and some very strange ones.

Lineup (in order of arrival):

Gordon
Dijana
Johnny
Hamed
Mehi
Mark

The first set defeat was on a technicality - specifically, that half our team were thirty minutes late arriving.  As we don't believe (this week anyway) in naming and shaming, I won't say who was the driver responsible.  If curious, ask me in private, or look elsewhere in this blog for a photographic clue.

Tigers v Guildford

For the first Tigers game of the season, we were very short-handed and had to use one of our options to borrow from the other div 3 squad.  The line-up was: Mehi (captain), Gordon, Mark, Dijana, Les, and special guest Francois.

After a convincing first set win, we thought the match was in the bag, but then we lost the second set 27-25, despite leading most of the way.  The third was similarly close, but went our way in the end, and the fourth set was much like the first, giving us a convincing 3-1  victory.

Thanks to Brian for reffing and Nev for scoring.  Unfortunately no pictures on this occasion.
